So many people are looking for meaning in life. The search for purpose is not a religious or secular thing. We all want to know what we are here for and what we can do while we are here.
Although Ash Wednesday is not Biblical (what Christian celebration or holiday is?), it does cause us to ponder a serious question. Our purpose.
“Remember, you are dust and to dust you shall return”
Today, I changed my Bible study for small group. I was going to do a series on the power of prayer, but we have done a couple of those. Instead, I talked about how we seek purpose and how, like the ashes. we dissipate. I based the lesson around the secular song Bring Me To Life, which was popular a few years ago.
Our church began a new sermon series, H2O today also. I thought it would be a nice contrast to talk about the ashes of guilt being washed away in the water of life. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed the study.
